September 18 2009 Buy the Dow.  Buy the Dow?  Unbelievable?  Unbelievable.

We have been so occupied with watching for the downwave that we have discounted the power of the bear market rally since March.  Not totally discounted, since we have been finding long stocks since the very bottom.  And in fact some of these sniff at the mere 51% advance of the Dow from the March low — profits in the hundreds of percentages.

As we remarked earlier the natural gas and energy stocks are showing signs of breakout.  Valid bottoms appear to have been formed in these selections and their penetrations of the horizontal lines are signals which make them worth a bet — as always, a scaled in bet.

090912gc090912slvAfter being spooked by what looked at first glance like an exhaustion gap we followed good practice and set a stop instead of bailing on gold.  So far this is productive.  Now we have an up gap — a bullish signal, in fact you could, if aggressive, add to your position.  Note:  aggressive.  Of course the new high is bullish also.
