100205induWe are curious about everything (like Curious George) and skeptical about everything including skepticism.  So we are of course aware of candlestick patterns and watch them with some interest.  But we do not depend on their interpretation.  Finally that comes down to our reading of the good old fashioned chart.  We do show a lot of charts in candlestick notation because we think the black and white candles give emphasis to prevailing momentum.

Flagging the Dow and dead cats?

100127induHere are the present considerations in analyzing the Dow:  The Dow is supported by two trendlines, both of which are penetrated, but not decisively.  Momentum is decisively down, but as we know momentum can be reversed at any time (see March 6, 2009).

Houston we have a problem…

091019fnmWho is Keefe Bruyette and Woods, and does anyone care? (Which way were they in the great bear market?)  Well obviously someone cares because they sent FNM and FRE down about 17% on a gap with a report saying the shares were worthless.  We have sent an email to enforcement@sec.gov  (and you should too) asking them to investigate to see if KBW have a conflict of interest, or if they informed their bosom clients they were going to ambush these issues.
