More and bigger questions…

It is a characteristic of prices at  tops to do two things:  drift sideways and break short term trendlines.  Here a trendline from feb15 and a longer and more significant trendline from oct14 are broken.

Here we begin to see some shape to the market.  And it is not pretty.  Without too much contortion we can see a possible head and shoulders.

Market rhythms…cha, cha, cha

We remarked a few days back — about the 6th that a change of rhythm was occurring.  And that certainly appears to be the case.  After a little upwave of about 7% and 16 days the downwave we are in now began — now at 9 days and 3.334% in the SPX.

Other changes are the recovery of treasuries and yesterday the downgap in the euro.

Head and shoulders beheaded?

090714induReaders raise the question, do the last two days invalidate the head and shoulders?  Not at all.  The trendline from the top in June is intact, the pattern of lower highs and lower lows is intact and a few more days work on the right shoulder would add to symmetry.
